2025 Grand Marshal - Sean Benito

Raised in Hilo and rooted in Keaukaha, Lion Bradda Sean is honored to be the 2025 Grand Marshal for the much anticipated Hilo Christmas Parade. He is a graduate of Waiakea High School, and has been a Lion for 13 years. He currently serves as the District Governor for the D50 - Hawaii Lions.

 1. What was your thoughts/reaction to being asked to be the Grand Marshal?

 - To tell you the truth, I've never been the type to be out front - I've always been a "behind-the-scenes" guy. That's just my personality. But when asked to be this year's Grand Marshal, I felt deeply humbled.
While growing up, I have fond memories of this parade - from marching as a Cub Scout & Boy Scout, to later leading as Scoutmaster.

 2. What is your favorite "go-to" spot in Hilo?

 - Keaukaha will always be my "go-to" spot. I have so many beautiful memories there. I remember waking up early with my grandpa, stopping at 'Awili Store to pick up the newspaper, then heading to Keaukaha Elementary School. After school, we'd hang out at the old Keaukaha Cash & Carry next to Kawananakoa Hall. Summers were spent at Kawananakoa Hall's Summer Fun Program. Weekends meant cooling off at Ice Pond or playing ball at Hualani Park - T-Ball, basketball, you name it; we did it.

  3. How long have you been a Lion and what inspires you to continue?

 - I have been a proud Lion for 13 years. My grandparents taught me that true aloha is found in serving others, and the Lions allow me to live that every day.

  4. What are you most excited to see at this year's parade?

  - I am most excited to see the families enjoy this Christmas parade. I love hearing the local high school and intermediate school bands playing, and watching the parents on the sidelines beaming with pride as their children march by. I'm also looking forward to seeing my friends, their 'ohana and reconnecting with people I have not seen in a while. And I'll admit - my weakness is candy.
